New in Wanderinga: Track Regions and Turn Your Routes into Trip Reels

Two of our biggest updates yet — map every state, province and prefecture you've explored, then turn any GPS route into a cinematic, share-ready video.

July 24, 2026 · Wanderinga Team

Counting the countries you’ve visited is a great start. But if you’ve road-tripped across the American West, ridden trains through half of Japan, or hiked the length of a coastline, a single country pin never told the whole story. Neither did a static map of your best routes.

So we built two features to fix exactly that — and they’re live now.

Track regions, not just countries

Visiting a country isn’t the whole picture. Spending a weekend in Tokyo is not the same as travelling all 47 of Japan’s prefectures, and a stopover in California is a world away from crossing all 50 US states.

Now Wanderinga tracks the level below the border. You can mark every state, province, prefecture, region and canton you’ve set foot in, and watch your world map fill in piece by piece instead of country by country.

  • See exactly how much of a country you’ve really covered
  • Track all 50 US states, Japan’s 47 prefectures, and regions worldwide
  • Watch your map light up region by region as your travel history grows

It’s a far more honest — and far more satisfying — way to visualise where you’ve actually been.

Trip Reels: your routes, as cinematic video

This is the one we’re most excited about.

Every hike, ride and road trip you’ve imported as a GPX file holds a story — but a still line on a map doesn’t do it justice. Trip Reels turns any of your GPS activities into a share-ready video where the camera flies along your route, the trail draws itself across a beautiful dark map, and your distance, elevation and time count up in real time. Your activity name and date sit right on top, ready to post.

It’s the difference between telling people about your trek across the mountains and showing them.

How to make your first Trip Reel

  1. Open any GPX activity in Wanderinga
  2. Tap Export Trip Reel
  3. Choose your length — 15, 30 or 60 seconds
  4. Tap Generate Reel and let the app render your video
  5. Share straight to Instagram, TikTok, Stories, Reels, or anywhere else

Because each frame is rendered individually for a smooth, high-quality result, longer reels take a little time to build — keep the app open and it’ll be ready to share in moments.

What’s free, what’s Pro

Both features are built for everyone:

  • Region tracking is included for all travellers.
  • Trip Reels export free in 720p with a small Wanderinga watermark. Upgrade to Wanderinga Pro for crisp 1080p video with no watermark, alongside unlimited trips, GPX editing, the route simulator, advanced filters, and the full interactive country map with regional detail.

Start filling in the map

Your journeys deserve more than a list. Update to the latest version of Wanderinga, mark the regions you’ve explored, and turn your favourite route into a Trip Reel worth sharing.
